It Takes A Village...

Remo

Today I wanted to bring up something that weighs heavy on my mind.
Because I'm a street nigga from every aspect, so here it is: When many of us who grew up in the time frame of real hip-hop (da 80's), those were the days. As for me, growin' up in NC, my momma and 'em had fish fries and sold shots of Crown as they play spades on da weekend, made snow ice cream in da winter, and crazy, cookouts.

In those days, as a kid you could be on one end of the hood and yoir momma be on the other side of town, and you was still afraid that somebody was gone tell your parents you was actin' up. Worst thing that could happen is, if you was weak or you got caught slipping, somebody be done jacked you for your fresh pair Nike Air's.

Well here's what has me puzzled: this day and time is fucked up! Kids killing kids, cereal snipers, school bombing, gangs, bitch ass niggas jumping on one kid...Something is wrong. We can't go on livin like this. In the same place hip-hop originated (da hood), is the same place where the corruption of our people exist. We have to shelter our kids from the world's chaos -- rapists, sex offenders, addict parents, selling kids for money and shit.

I don't trust the streets with my kids. Our village is torn. Not good folks. My sons can't even walk to school by himself at 8 years of age and the school is only two blocks away...

We might be trapped in da hood, but we can't stay trap in the mind.

ENTRAPMENT!!! coming soon...
